About Robert Sherwood
I am a software developer with over 20 years of experience working on large scale applications in Britain, Norway, the United States, and Canada. I have worked on significant projects for the Canadian government, Merck, and the now defunct Arthur Andersen. In each case, I was responsible for drafting, developing, and designing an entire, self-contained application in accordance with the client's specifications. I have always been a primary developer, responsible for consulting the client, designing the database, and perfecting the code.
My original experience is in Visual Basic, Delphi, and a variety of relational databases, including Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL. More recent projects include work in C#. But my focus is now on web design, specifically using the LAMP open-source sofware platform: I write server code in Php, design databases in MySql, and mark up pages with disciplined XHtml and Css. For images, I design with Gimp. I write all of the code myself, without the use of third-party, intermediary applications such as Dreamweaver and Joomla.
I am also a professional writer, which means that I can communicate well and can provide clear explanations and cogent documentation for everything I do.
